The Importance of Routine Bloodwork

While some may think that bloodwork is only for old or sick animals, this is not the case! Pets who are young or old, healthy or sick, can benefit from a routine blood panel.

What do we learn about your pet by doing this? More than you might think. Your veterinarian can interpret kidney and liver function (most critical before anesthesia), blood sugar levels, thyroid function, red and white blood cell counts to check for anemia and infection, and a urinalysis to look for infection, as well as further information on kidney function.

Routine screens further serve to establish a baseline for what is "normal" for your pet. That way, if they become ill, there is some reference to know what has changed. Also, if your pet is on any medication for long periods of time, bloodwork lets us monitor how well they are responding to the medication.

Ask your pet's doctor which panel will be most appropriate. By presenting the coupon below you will receive a discount on any blood panel selected for your pet during the month of January.
